The target in the export of fresh figs is $75 million

This season, $75 million of exports are targeted for fresh figs, of which Turkey is the leader in production. Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Chairman Hayrettin Ucak, in his written statement, stated that exports will start on July 28 for yellow-lopped fresh figs, and on July 30 for Bursa black figs.

Indicating that Turkey’s fresh fig exports were $48.8 million in 2019, it increased to $60 million 4 thousand in 2020, Ucak reported that Bursa black fresh figs brought $48 million 881 thousand to Turkey in 2020, and $11 million 123 million were obtained from the export of yellow lop fresh figs.

Informing that more than $60 million of fresh figs were exported to 42 countries last year, Ucak said:

“The harvest and quality of 2021 is very suitable for export. We expect an increase of around 10% in yield. Our fresh fig export target is $75 million. While Germany ranked first in Bursa black with $17 million 160 thousand, Austria bought Bursa black fresh figs for $6 million. The Netherlands, on the other hand, preferred Bursa Black for $4.7 million. In the export of yellow lop fresh figs, Germany became the first country with an amount of $3 million 555 thousand.”
