THY and ITA will start joint flights as of July

Turkish Airlines and Italian airline company ITA Airways will start joint flights as of July.

According to the statement made by the Turkish Airlines Press Office, the codeshare agreement signed between the two airlines will provide passengers with more travel options between Turkiye and Italy.

Within the scope of the agreement, while ITA Airways uses its own flight code on THY flights between Rome and Istanbul, THY’s flight code will be valid on 9 domestic flights of ITA Airways, including Brindisi, Bari, Catania, Florence, Genoa, Palermo, Lamezia Terme, Turin and Trieste from Rome.

With the agreement, guests will be offered a more flexible travel opportunity, as well as uninterrupted connection with a single ticket and forwarding of their luggage to their final destinations.

THY General Manager Bilal Eksi, whose views are included in the statement, said, “Rome and Istanbul have always been attractive and extraordinary cities to connect people. I sincerely believe that our codeshare agreement will develop more connections and increase traffic between the two respected countries. Our cooperation will not only give a new impetus to Turkiye-Italy traffic, but will also generate positive energy for tourism, expand our network and increase the benefits for our passengers.”

Fabio Lazzerini, General Manager of ITA Airways, stated that ITA Airways’ commercial growth strategy has taken a step forward with the codeshare partnership with THY as well as its existing collaborations with the world’s leading airlines.

Lazzerini stated that this partnership provides privileged access for all ITA Airways passengers on the route to Istanbul, one of the world’s most fascinating and historically rich cities.
