THY Signs Agreement with TÜRKSAT for Free In-Flight Internet Service

Turkish Airlines (THY) has signed a memorandum of understanding with TÜRKSAT to provide passengers with free and unlimited internet service on all its aircraft, starting at the end of this year and to be completed within two years.

According to the statement from THY’s Press Office, the signing ceremony held at the aviation fair in England was attended by THY Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Ahmet Bolat, THY General Manager Bilal Ekşi, and TÜRKSAT General Manager Hasan Hüseyin Ertok.

As part of the project, which aims to commence by the end of this year and be completed within two years, THY plans to enhance its existing fleet with the latest in-flight connectivity (IFC) technologies and equip new aircraft with more efficient IFC technologies.

By doing so, THY will expand the IFC service it currently offers on a large part of its fleet to cover the entire fleet, providing all passengers with free, unlimited, uninterrupted, and faster IFC service.

THY is also engaging in collaboration discussions with local and international suppliers to offer the best IFC service solutions for its entire fleet and is supporting Turkish companies in developing solutions for this connectivity service.

In this context, the project will be jointly carried out by TCI Aircraft Interiors, a subsidiary of THY that produces in-cabin systems, and TÜRKSAT.
