TikTok Sale Nears Final Stage: Trump in Talks with Four Buyers

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that discussions are ongoing with four different groups regarding the sale of the China-based social media platform TikTok and that all options are being considered.

The future of TikTok became uncertain after a law requiring its parent company, ByteDance, to either sell the platform or face a ban due to national security concerns was set to take effect on January 19. After taking office on January 20, Trump signed an executive order delaying the law by 75 days, extending the process.

Trump’s Statement: “We Are in Talks with Four Groups”

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump was asked whether a deal for TikTok would be finalized soon. He responded, “It could happen.” The president added, “We are in discussions with four different groups, and many people want to buy TikTok. All of them are good options.”

Who Are TikTok’s Potential Buyers?

The uncertainty surrounding TikTok has attracted interest from multiple potential buyers, including former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt. Analysts estimate that the rapidly growing platform could be valued at up to $50 billion.

TikTok and ByteDance have not responded to requests for comment outside business hours. The progress of the sale process remains a subject of great anticipation.
