Tims&B Productions, the company behind Turkish TV series aired across various countries and languages, is preparing to venture into the textile industry. If an agreement with a Kuwaiti fund is finalized, Tims&B will become the new owner of Yargıcı, a prominent Turkish fashion brand.
From “Magnificent Century” to Fashion: Tims&B’s New Chapter
Tims&B Productions, known for producing hit series like Magnificent Century, Kavak Yelleri, Söz, Bir Zamanlar Çukurova, and Teşkilat, is one of Türkiye’s most prominent production companies. Established in 2006 by Timur Savcı as Tims Productions, the company rebranded to Tims&B Productions in 2017 when Burak Sağyaşar joined as a partner. Over the years, the company has produced more than 10 films and nearly 20 TV series.
According to a report by Dünya’s Kerim Ülker, Tims&B is now setting its sights on the fashion industry with plans to acquire Yargıcı, one of the region’s most renowned brands.
Vakko’s Failed Negotiations with Yargıcı
Yargıcı, founded in 1978 by Emir Yargıcı in Osmanbey, is known for its diverse product range spanning fashion to home decor. The brand introduced its first women’s collection in 1988 and expanded into home furnishings in 2015 with Yargıcı Homeworks. Currently operating 60 stores, Yargıcı has previously attracted foreign investment.
In 2011, the Kuwaiti-based Global Investment House (GIH) acquired a 55% stake in Yargıcı, marking its second major investment in Türkiye. In 2021, Yargıcı entered another sale process, during which Vakko Holding—owner of brands like Vakko Wedding, Vakkorama, and W Collection—engaged in negotiations to acquire the company but failed to finalize an agreement.
Kuwaiti Fund to Exit Türkiye After 4 Years
Now, four years later, the Kuwaiti investment giant plans to exit Türkiye entirely, selling its remaining shares in Yargıcı. The Kuwaiti fund, led by Maha Al Ghunaim—ranked 94th on Forbes’ Power Women 100 list—once managed assets worth approximately $7 billion.
Breaking Records with “Magnificent Century” in Over 130 Countries
Tims&B’s first production, Kavak Yelleri, premiered in 2007, but the company rose to international fame with Magnificent Century in 2011. The series, which captivated audiences in Türkiye, the former Soviet bloc, and the Middle East, was sold to over 130 countries, setting a record for Turkish TV exports.
Other notable achievements include the Latin American adaptation of Suskunlar as Game of Silence, and the 2020 series Teşkilat, which became the only Turkish production featured at the MIPTV Fresh TV showcase. The company’s Maraşlı series won the Best Foreign Language TV Series Award at the Produ Awards in Spain, while Şahmaran, produced for Netflix in 2023, became Netflix Türkiye’s largest-budget project.
Tims&B also operates the 26,000-square-meter TIMS Hadımköy Film Studios, one of Türkiye’s largest film production facilities. Now, with its plans to acquire Yargıcı, the company is poised to expand its influence beyond the screen and into the fashion industry.
