Onomotion, which offers e-bike solutions for sustainability-oriented urban logistics and whose founder is the famous automotive designer Murat Gunak, received an investment of €21 million.

Developing alternative solutions for urban logistics, e-bike manufacturer Onomotion received an investment of €21 million in the Series A tour. While €6 million of the investment will be used as capital, €15 million will be used for debts.

Proeza Ventures, Zu na mi GmbH and the European Innovation Council participated in the tour organized for €6 million. GLS Bank participated in the tour organized for debt. According to Beres Seelbach, the venture’s co-founder and CEO, Onomotion will repay GLS after seven years, including an annual interest rate of 5.5%.

Founded by Turkish automobile designers Murat Gunak, Beres Seelbach and Philipp Kahle, Onomotion works to develop cities with smart city logistics that put people first and foremost. The startup focuses on urban logistics, transporting products between cities in sustainable, efficient and cost-effective ways. Combining the flexibility of a bicycle with the capacity and durability of a minibus, ONO e-cargobike offers eco-friendly urban logistics solutions designed and optimized for today’s cities.

The startup wants cities, counties and neighborhoods to feel closer and better connected. Along with logistics partners such as UPS, DPD and Hermes, Onomotion has 100+ vehicles on the roads in Germany.

Onomotion’s as-a-service business model includes customers paying monthly fees for vehicles, containers, chargers, maintenance and service. The venture also offers a fleet management program and provides over-the-air software updates. Thus, vehicle mechanics can constantly improve.

Most of Onomotion’s customers have their own delivery drivers. In addition, another business unit that offers the startup’s logistics operations team is gradually being expanded.

Seelbach said, “15-20% of our turnover this year will come from logistics as a service. Many of our customers said it was difficult to find drivers. That’s why we do everything for some of our customers, from delivering vehicles to drivers.”

The venture will use the investment to find more sustainable and efficient solutions for package delivery in busy city centers, together with more cities and logistics companies. Over the next few years, the company is looking to expand to several thousand vehicles in Europe and North America.
