Istanbul, April 2026
Turkey’s banking regulator, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), has granted approval to TrendFinans, the financial technology arm of Trendyol, to offer banking services in partnership with Odeabank under the “service model banking” framework.
Entry into Financial Services
With this approval, Trendyol is formally entering the fintech space by leveraging its digital platform and user base. TrendFinans will operate as an interface provider, enabling users to access banking services directly through the Trendyol ecosystem.
The services will be powered by Odeabank’s licensed banking infrastructure, allowing compliant delivery of financial products without TrendFinans itself becoming a licensed bank.
What the Model Enables
Under the service model banking (Banking-as-a-Service) structure:
- TrendFinans will offer digital access to banking products
- Odeabank will remain the licensed financial institution
- Services will target both individual users and SMEs (small businesses)
Users are expected to access these services directly via the Trendyol app, integrating financial tools into everyday e-commerce usage.
Focus on User Experience and SMEs
The initiative aims to:
- Improve financial access for small and medium-sized businesses
- Provide innovative financial products to consumers
- Enhance the end-to-end user experience within the platform
Industry observers view this as a significant step in combining e-commerce and fintech ecosystems in Turkey.
Strategic Implications
The move highlights a broader trend in which large digital platforms expand into financial services by partnering with licensed banks rather than becoming banks themselves.
If successful, the TrendFinans–Odeabank model could:
- Accelerate embedded finance adoption in Turkey
- Increase competition in digital banking services
- Strengthen Trendyol’s position as a multi-service platform
