Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. (TÜRASAŞ) has delivered the sixth set of the national electric train, the fifth set of the national commuter train, and the 15th and 16th sets of the E5000 national electric locomotive within the past week.
In a written statement, Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that while expanding Turkey’s railway network, they are also strengthening the domestic rail industry to ensure that every vehicle and component used on the network is produced with national capabilities. He noted that TÜRASAŞ facilities have been modernized to increase production capacity, adding that, over the year, 16 E5000 national electric locomotives and 673 freight wagons—including 100 designed for military tank transport—have been delivered.
Uraloğlu recalled that serial production of the national electric train and the national commuter train sets is underway. He stated that by the end of the year, the 10th electric train set will be delivered to TCDD Taşımacılık and the 8th national commuter set will be sent to the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality.
Highlighting the latest achievements, Uraloğlu said: “TÜRASAŞ is breaking production records. In just the past week, we delivered two domestically and nationally produced train sets and two locomotives.”
The minister also noted that work on the high-speed train factory to be established in Sakarya is progressing, with the goal of completing the project in 2026.
