ISTANBUL — Turkcell has announced a major promotional campaign to coincide with the launch of 5G services, offering customers up to five times their existing mobile data packages.
Speaking at a 5G launch event, CEO Ali Taha Koç said the company aims to make next-generation connectivity accessible to all segments of society.
“We have fulfilled our promise to bring 5G to Turkey,” Koç said, adding that the company plans to expand 5G usage across industries and position the country as a regional technology hub.
Fivefold Increase in Data Packages
As part of the campaign, Turkcell customers will see their current mobile data allowances multiplied by five for one month. The offer will also apply to new subscribers who join the network during the promotional period.
Company data showed strong initial demand, with more than 5 million users upgrading their packages within the first 24 hours of the announcement.
Emphasis on Network Capacity
Koç highlighted that 5G is not only about speed but also about network capacity. He noted that Turkcell’s infrastructure is built on a broad frequency spectrum totaling approximately 394.4 MHz, giving the operator a competitive advantage in coverage and performance.
Device Partnerships and Accessibility
To accelerate 5G adoption, Turkcell has partnered with major smartphone manufacturers, including Samsung, to expand the availability of 5G-compatible devices.
- Up to 50% discounts on selected smartphones
- Installment payment options for multiple brands
- A device agreement covering 750,000 units
The company aims to increase the share of 5G-compatible devices, currently estimated at around 30%, in order to broaden access to the new technology.
Showcasing 5G Capabilities
During the launch event, Turkcell demonstrated the capabilities of 5G through a remote driving test. A Togg T10F located in Gemlik was successfully controlled from Istanbul using a 5G connection, highlighting low latency and high-speed performance.
Outlook
With aggressive promotional offers and infrastructure investments, Turkcell is positioning itself at the forefront of Turkey’s transition to 5G, aiming to accelerate adoption among both consumers and industrial users.
