Turkey: $1.4 billion of exports from the electrical-electronics sector in April

The exports of the electrical and electronics sector in April increased by 12% compared to the same period of 2021 and reached $1 billion 401 million.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the exports of the electrical-electronics sector, which was $1 billion 251 million in April last year, increased to $1 billion 401 million in the same period of 2022.

Looking at the export distribution of the sector on the basis of countries, the highest export was made to the United Kingdom with $141.8 million in April. Germany followed with $140.2 million, France with $83.8 million and Italy with $66.1 million.

It was noteworthy that the electrical-electronic exports to Iran increased by 195.5% in April compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $33.6 million. Among the countries where electrical-electronic exports increased, Bulgaria with an increase of 102.1% and $35.3 million, Israel with an increase of 55.6% and $50 million, and Greece with 41.3% and $26 million came to the fore.

Electric-electronic exports to Middle Eastern countries increased by 48%

The region to which the electrical-electronics sector exports the most, based on country groups, was the European Union (EU) countries. The sector, which exported $577.4 million to EU countries in April of 2021, realized an export of $647.2 million to the region with an increase of 12.1% in the same period of this year.

EU countries were followed by other European countries with an export of $191.9 million. It was noteworthy that the exports of electricity and electronics to the Middle East countries increased by 48.3% to $182.7 million. The exports of the sector to African countries increased by 10.7% to $125.5 million.

Looking at the export figures of the sector on the basis of provinces, Istanbul was the province with the highest export volume in April with $671.8 million. In the said period, Istanbul’s exports in the electrical-electronics sector increased by 7.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Istanbul was followed by Manisa with $217.8 million, Izmir with $92.4 million and Denizli with $76.6 million in electrical and electronics exports.
