Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul up 1.8% at close

BIST 100 gains 36.2 points from previous close

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 2,038.16 points, up 1.81% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,008.29 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index earned 36.22 points from Monday’s close of 2,001.94 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 2,006.04 points, while its daily high was 2,054.78.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.62 trillion Turkish liras ($119.86 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 30.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.24 billion).

During the second transaction day of the week, 92 stocks on the index rose, six fell and two remained unchanged compared to Monday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron/steel producer Kardemir, and private lender Yapi Kredi.

Real investment trust IS Gyo was the best performer, with its shares up 9.96%, while stocks of industrial company Ege Endustri saw the biggest drop, 1.96%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,854.50 by market close, up from $1,845 at the previous close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $92.35 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
