Turkey and Azerbaijan to establish a joint technopark

Within the scope of the Azerbaijani contacts of the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan on the establishment of a joint technopark.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank met with Azerbaijan’s Digital Development and Transport Minister Reşat Nebiyev in Baku, where he went to attend TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan.

Varank talked about the importance of technology development zones in the meeting, and stated that they have significant knowledge and experience with 92 technoparks and over 1600 R&D and design centers in Turkey.

Stating that nearly 8 thousand companies operate in technoparks in Turkey, Varank made the following assessment:

“We have succeeded in exporting more than $7 billion from our technoparks. In this context, our teams have been working for a long time to establish a Technology Development Zone in Baku. They are working on the determination of the stakeholders of the technopark to be established, the establishment of the managing company, the determination of the venue, the establishment of the incubation center, and the determination of the university. Hopefully, with the memorandum of understanding that we will sign today, we hope that the technopark will be operational as soon as possible.”

After the meeting, Varank and Nebiyev signed the “Technopark Memorandum of Understanding”.
