Turkey and Azerbaijan will cooperate in the field of digital commerce

The memorandum of understanding, which envisages cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in the field of digital commerce, was approved. The decision regarding the approval of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Digital Commerce” signed in Baku on April 2 was published in the Official Gazette.

The memorandum of understanding, which envisages cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in the field of digital commerce, was approved. Accordingly, the memorandum of understanding aims to take advantage of technological opportunities to increase trade in goods and services between the two countries, to take into account the latest developments in new transport routes and connections, and to make existing cooperation more inclusive and prosperous.

The sustainable and stable development of digital commerce between the two countries will be promoted. In this context, joint studies, including digital commerce deficit assessment, will be carried out and joint reports will be prepared, informative meetings, workshops and seminars will be organized, joint projects and programs will be developed.

Legislation will be improved in areas related to digital commerce, and application possibilities of the internet of things, blockchain, robotics and cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other “4th Industrial Revolution” technologies will be explored for trade facilitation and digitalization.

Customs and border regulation processes will be simplified, studies will be carried out to ensure interoperability of national single windows, e-commerce standards will be developed, Opportunities will be explored in areas such as new marketing models, digital payments of customs duties and duties, digitalization of e-invoice and trade finance, digital logistics and supply chain management.

Collaboration will be made to remove barriers to digital commerce and create favorable conditions and infrastructure that will lead to cross-border digital commerce.

Cooperation will be made in the implementation of the e-TIR system to facilitate freight transport. Efforts will be made to facilitate rail transport on transport routes. Digital infrastructure will be established to further facilitate the connection between the two countries through existing and newly opened corridors.

Cooperation between businesses operating in the field of digital commerce in their own countries will be encouraged, including supporting the integration of SMEs into the cross-border digital commerce ecosystem.
