Turkey broke a record in exports to Germany

While Turkey made the most foreign sales to Germany last year, exports to this country increased by 22.9% compared to 2020, and broke a record by increasing it to $17 billion 705.4 million. Last year, the automotive industry made the highest amount of exports to Germany with $4 billion 167.7 million.

According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkey’s exports increased by 32.9% last year compared to 2020 and reached $225 billion 367.7 million.

Turkey made the most foreign sales to Germany last year. Turkey’s exports to Germany in 2021 increased by 22.9% on an annual basis to $17 billion 705.4 million, reaching a historical peak. Germany was followed by the United Kingdom, the USA, Italy and Spain.

In 2021, Turkey’s exports increased by 26.3% to $13 billion 229.7 million to the United Kingdom, and to the USA $12 billion 844.7 million with an increase of 45%, to Italy increased by 40.5% to $10 billion 660.5 million, to Spain by 45.8% to $9 billion 242 million.

Last year, the automotive industry exported the most to Germany. The automotive industry exported $4 billion 167.7 million to the country.

Automotive industry includes ready-made clothing and apparel with $3 billion 465.8 million, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with $1 billion 597.5 million, electricity and electronics with $1 billion 290.3 million, chemicals and products with $1 billion 221.7 million.

The steel industry sold $762 million 934 thousand and mining products $147 million 17 thousand to Germany.

The sectors in which the country has the least demand are other industrial products with $7.7 million, ornamental plants and products with $13.3 million, tobacco with $21.5 million, ships, yachts and services with $32.9 million, olive and olive oil sectors with $41.7 million.

While 25 of 27 sectors exporting to Germany increased their exports, only 2 sectors saw a decrease in their exports.

The sector with the highest increase in exports to the country was ship and yacht services. Ship and yacht services exports to Germany increased by 207.8% in 2021 compared to 2020. Ship and yacht services were followed by steel with 82%, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with 65.7%, mining products with 61.6% and tobacco with 58.8%.

ISTANBUL COMPANIES MADE THE MOST INTERNATIONAL SALES TO GERMANY

Exports to Germany were made from 79 provinces of Turkey last year.

Last year, companies from Istanbul made the most foreign sales to Germany. An export of $7 billion 776.6 million was made from Istanbul to Germany.

Bursa was followed by Bursa with $2 billion 138.2 million, Izmir with $1 billion 433.1 million, Kocaeli with $1 billion 161.6 million and Manisa with $815.8 million.
