100 countries came to IFCO to buy ready-made clothing from Turkey

After the pandemic, the ready-made clothing industry, which was flooded with orders by Western giant purchasing groups, started 2022 rapidly, as in many product groups. Istanbul Fashion Connection Ready-to-Wear and Fashion Fair (IFCO), which was held in Istanbul between 9-11 February, was flooded with visitors. Istanbul Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters’ Association (IHKIB) President Mustafa Gultepe said, “Despite the pandemic, nearly 600 companies participated and over 3 thousand buyers attended. 25 thousand visitors, half of which were foreigners. Buyers from 100 countries came. We will organize this fair twice a year.”

$1 BILLION CONTRIBUTION

Gultepe said that the appetite of foreign purchasing groups for Turkey still continues, and said, “Our capacity utilization rate is around 85% as a sector. There is no slowdown in foreign purchases.” Emphasizing that such an event has not been held in Turkey before, Gultepe said, “We expect the second IFCO Fair, which we will organize between 24-26 August, to contribute more than $1 billion to the sector’s exports in total.”
