Turkey exported $1B worth bus, minibus and midibus in the first 9 months

According to the data of Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (PA), Turkish bus, minibus and midibus exports in September increased to $159 million 303 thousand and by 2 percent. Export sales in this product group in the Jan-Sept period were recorded as $1 billion 75 million 836 thousand. Exports were mainly made to European countries in this period.

Bus-minibus-midibus exports were made to 88 countries in the Jan-Sept period during the ongoing period with pandemic effects. Products were also sent to Libya, Rwanda, Mali, Uruguay, Madagascar, Congo and Guinea, where exports were not made last year. Turkish exports to Morocco increased by 39 percent, from $32 million 607 thousand to $45 million 428 thousand in the first 9 months compared to the same period last year.

Sector representatives exported $36 million 177 thousand to England, $34 million 598 thousand to Norway, $30 million 606 thousand to Spain, $30 million 112 thousand to Poland, $29 million 66 thousand to Hungary and $26 million 765 thousand to Czech Republic.

296 percent increase in exports to Russia

Bus, minibus and midibus exports of automotive manufacturers to Russia in the 9-month period increased. Exports to this country increased by 296 percent from $5 million 940 thousand to $23 million 535 thousand compared to the same period last year.

Bus, minibus, midibus exports to Mexico in the 9-month period increased by 244 percent from $4 million 429 thousand to $15 million 250 thousand compared to the same period of 2019. $14 million 749 thousand of buses, minibuses and midibuses were exported to Saudi Arabia with an increase of 297 percent.
