Turkey Extends TPAO’s Oil Exploration Licenses in Edirne and Kırklareli

The General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG) under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has extended the oil exploration licenses of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) in Edirne and Kırklareli.

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, the license covering block numbers AR/TPO/K/E18-d3, d4 has been extended from August 7, 2025, to August 7, 2027.

Expropriation Approved for Two Fields

Separately, MAPEG approved TPAO’s request for expropriation in two different fields located in Kırklareli and Siirt. The decision was taken on the grounds of public interest, after negotiations to purchase the land failed due to demands above market value. The sites had previously been designated for urgent expropriation to facilitate petroleum operations.
