Turkey reached a historical peak in agricultural exports

Turkey’s agricultural exports increased by 20.5% in the January-August period compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $17 billion 953 million.

The agricultural sector realized the highest January-August exports in its history with foreign sales approaching $18 billion.

According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkey’s exports increased by 52% compared to the same period of 2020 to $18.9 billion last month, and increased by 36.9% to $140.2 billion in the January-August period.

Turkey’s agricultural exports increased by 20.5% in the January-August period compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $17 billion 953 million. Thus, the highest 8-month exports in history were made in the agricultural sector.

In the 8 months of the year, industrial exports increased by 38.8% to $106.3 billion, and mining exports increased by 49.4% to $3.8 billion.

Turkey’s agricultural exports accounted for 12.8% of total exports in the 8 months of the year.

Cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products made the most exports in agriculture

Cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products made the highest exports among the sectors related to agriculture, with $5 billion 580 million in the said period.

This sector was followed by furniture, paper and forest products with $4 billion 323 million, aquaculture and animal products with $2 billion 83 million, fresh fruit and vegetables with $1 billion 786 million, nuts and nut products with $1 billion 282 million, fruit and vegetable products with $1 billion 268 million, dried fruits and products with $871 million, tobacco with $470 million, olives and olive oil with $184 million, ornamental plants and products with $107 million.

9 out of 10 sectors in agriculture took off

9 out of 10 sectors within the agriculture group increased their exports. Among the sectors related to agriculture, the sector that increased its exports the most in this period was ornamental plants and products with 57.2%.

Despite the fact that ornamental plants and products made the least export among the sectors within agriculture, they took the lead in the increase in exports.

This sector was followed by aquaculture and animal products with 36.5%, furniture, paper and forest products with 26.1%, and fruit and vegetable products with 22.9%, cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products with 21.2%, fresh fruits and vegetables with 19.6%, dried fruits and products with 11.8%, nuts and products, olive and olive oil sectors with 5.4%.

In this period, foreign sales of the tobacco sector decreased by 17.9%.
