Exports of 45 provinces in Turkiye increased in January: Istanbul had the highest exports

The Ministry of Commerce announced that 45 provinces increased their exports in January. Istanbul ranked first with a total of $4.3 billion, despite a 0.3% decrease on an annual basis in January. Mersin was the province with the highest increase in exports with $212 million.

The Ministry of Commerce continues its efforts to contribute to the economy that has been growing uninterruptedly for the last 13 quarters in the Turkish Century, with its export-based growth model.

According to the provincial data compiled based on the activities within the scope of this vision and targets, 45 provinces increased their exports in January 2024.

Istanbul was at the top

In the first month of this year, compared to the same month last year, exports on the basis of provinces of activity; Istanbul came first with a total of $4 billion 330 million, despite a 0.3% decrease. Kocaeli ranked second with a 5.7% increase and $2 billion 504 million, and Izmir ranked third with a 1.3% increase and $1 billion 851 million, Bursa ranked fourth with a 0.4% increase and $1 billion 275 million, and Mersin ranked fifth with a 31.2% increase and $891 million.

Mersin was the province with the highest increase in exports

In January, compared to the same month of the previous year, in exports based on provinces of activity; While Mersin was determined to be the province with the highest increase with $212 million, Kocaeli ranked second with $135 million. In the list of provinces with the highest increase, Hatay came in third with $125 million, Yalova came in fourth with $89 million, and Corum came in fifth with $67 million.

Export statistics according to the provinces of activity of the Ministry of Commerce, calculated by taking into account the production locations at the beginning of 2024, were announced comparatively on an annual basis, covering the years 2022 and 2023. In the statement, it was emphasized that the statistics in question are aimed to make significant contributions to the determination of provincial/regional policies based on data. “As the Ministry of Commerce, we will continue our efforts to increase the welfare level of each province by implementing our road maps determined in consultation with our exporters, industrialists, producers and business people, and to contribute to our Turkish economy at the highest level.”
