Turkey: SCT rate increased in cigarettes and alcoholic beverages

The special consumption tax rate on alcoholic beverages and cigarettes has been increased. SCT increased by 25% on alcoholic beverages and 10% on cigarettes.

Breaking news! The decision to increase the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) amount on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages was published in the Official Gazette.

The Special Consumption Tax (SCT) rate was increased for alcoholic beverages and cigarette products.

RATE OF INCREASE IN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IS 25%

The rate of increase in the excise duty on alcoholic beverages was 25%.

While the tax for 1 liter of Raki increased by ₺64, the tax increase for 70 raki was ₺45.

RATE OF INCREASE IN CIGARETTES IS 10%

The rate of increase in excise duty on cigarettes was 10%. The minimum specific tax amount on cigarettes, which was ₺0.71, became ₺0.78. The SCT for 1 pack of cigarettes increased by ₺1.69.

THE INCREASE IN THE INFLATION RATE WILL NOT OCCUR IN JULY

According to the information obtained, due to the last tax increase, the tax increase in the inflation rate, which should be made in July, will not be made.

Thus, a possible 60% PPI update will not occur for cigarettes and alcoholic beverages in the July-December period.
