Turkey: Target in the sale of boron is $1.1 billion

Turkey, the country with the largest boron reserves in the world, has increased its sales in recent years with its investments in this field. The sales of boron, which is used in the fertilizer and ceramics industry, especially in the glass industry, increased by 52% in amount and 56% in amount in 2021, compared to the previous year.

MOST EXPORT TO CHINA

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Donmez, stated that Turkey sold 2.6 million boron products in 2021, 2.5 million tons of which were exported, and said, “We have achieved a sales revenue of $1 billion 30 million from this. This is an all-time record.” Reminding that boron was exported from Turkey to China for the first time last year, Donmez said, “This development with China continued and we exported boron by rail for the second time. China ranked first in boron exports with 994 thousand tons in 2021 figures. While the USA was in the second place with 311 thousand tons, India was third with 152 thousand tons.”

TARGET OF 2.5 MILLION TONS

Noting that they are trying to sell more pipes with added value, which is one of the most valuable mines in Turkey, Donmez said, “Our goal this year is $1.1 billion in the sales of boron and boron products, which we broke a record last year. In terms of quantity, we aim to sell 2 million 500 thousand tons of boron products. Making the connection of these sales already is the clearest indicator that a new record will come on the board.”
