Turkey: The chemical industry grew by about 37% in the third quarter

Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Chemicals and Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB), stated that the chemical industry grew by 36.78% in the third quarter, with exports of $6.26 billion.

Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of IKMIB, said, “As the chemical industry, one of the pioneers of strong growth performance, we are preparing to set a new record in exports with $24 billion this year.”
Stating that the 7.4% growth of the Turkish economy, which grew by 7% in the first quarter and by 21.7% in the second quarter, was pleasing in the third quarter, Pelister noted that there was a 2.7% growth compared to the second quarter.

Pelister stated that production and export-oriented growth is also important in terms of sustainability, and stated that the highest contribution to growth comes from exports and public expenditures, with 10% growth in the industry and 20.7% in the services sector.

Stating that the chemical industry grew by 36.78% in the third quarter, with exports of $6.26 billion, Pelister said, “On the basis of quantity, there was a growth of 12.5% in the third quarter. Exports of chemicals and products realized in the first three quarters, on the other hand, increased by 38.95% and reached $18.25 billion. As the chemical industry, one of the pioneers of its strong growth performance, we are preparing to set a new record with $24 billion in exports this year.”
