A delegation from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) met with businesspeople from Azerbaijan in Baku.
The opening of the event was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Baku Cahit Bağcı, TİM Vice President Ahmet Fikret Kileci, Azerbaijani officials, and businesspeople.
Ambassador Bağcı said in his speech at the event that Turkey, which ranks 11th among the world’s largest economies according to purchasing power quality, aims to enter world markets in a healthier way.
Bağcı drew attention to Azerbaijan’s population of 10.2 million and reminded that the country has commercial activity in a wide geography from Russia to Ukraine, from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan, and emphasized that Turkish businesspeople who want to export to this country should consider not only Azerbaijan’s but also the region’s needs.
Bağcı noted Turkey’s diversifying economy and emphasized that the country has become one of the leading exporting countries in software, hardware, and defense industries.
Bağcı stated that Turkey’s diplomatic missions provide the necessary support for Turkish exporters to access new markets, saying, “We make efforts to inform our traders, exporters, and producers correctly. We are in the second position in terms of exports to Azerbaijan after Russia. It is not difficult to turn this second place into first place. But we also should not fall to third place.”
TİM Vice President Kileci said they aim to further develop mutual relations with Azerbaijan in all areas.
Kileci stated that TİM is an umbrella organization representing over 150,000 exporters and that the number of members is increasing day by day.
Stating that they have a strong heritage and common dreams with Azerbaijan, just like with all Turkish world, Kileci said, “Our goal is to strengthen the trade network between the two countries within the framework of the ‘win-win’ principle. Trade strengthens friendship. Although the numbers are good in mutual trade, we believe that there is a greater potential, and we can achieve more.”
Kileci emphasized that the presidents of the two countries have set a target of $15 billion in trade volume, stating that they believe they will achieve this goal in a short time.
At the event attended by 40 businesspeople from Turkey and 200 from Azerbaijan, bilateral meetings were held, and some Turkish companies introduced their products.
