ISTANBUL — Turkey’s anchovy exports reached $10.89 million in the first seven months of 2026, rising 27% in value and 75% in volume compared with the same period last year.
According to Hasan Kuzuoğlu, head of the Aquaculture Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association, Turkey exported 3,286 tons of anchovies to 20 countries between January and July.
During the same period last year, exports totaled 1,876 tons worth $8.56 million. The latest figures therefore represent a significant increase in both volume and export revenue.
Belgium was the leading destination for Turkish anchovies, with exports worth $2.86 million. France followed with $2.79 million, while Ukraine ranked third with $1.65 million.
Turkey also expanded its export markets this year, shipping anchovies to Australia, Portugal and Qatar, where no exports were recorded during the same period last year.
Kuzuoğlu said demand for Turkish anchovies, particularly in European markets, remains strong and added that exports are expected to increase further during the remainder of the year.
