Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul down at open; currency and brent crude oil updates

BIST 100 index decreases by around 14.31 points from previous close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,314.43 points on Monday, falling 1.08% or 14.31 points from the previous close.

At last week’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 1.02% at 1,328.73 points with a daily trading volume of 31.3 billion Turkish liras ($4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.8490 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.8410 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.3880 from 9.3580, while one British pound traded for 10.4870 Turkish liras, down from 10.4880.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $47.36 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
