Turkey’s chicken meat production up in January-September

Country sees hen egg production of 14.3 billion units in first 9 months of this year

Chicken meat production in Turkey rose 2% year-on-year in the first nine months of this year, the Turkish Statistical Institute announced Thursday.

It totaled 1.65 million tons in January-September, while turkey meat production fell 18.7% to 36,407 tons, TurkStat said.

The number of slaughtered chickens hit 909.7 million units in the first nine months of this year, unchanged from a year ago.

A TurkStat report showed that hen egg production in Turkey totaled 14.3 billion units, falling 2.3% in the same period.

Meanwhile, in September, chicken and turkey meat production totaled 19,817 tons (up 14.5%) and 4,486 tons(down 1.7%), respectively.

The country also produced 1.6 billion hen eggs, inching down 0.2% from September 2020.
