Turkey’s Chocolate Producer Awaits Critical Vote on April 1

The future of Erdem Çikolata Gıda Sanayi Ticaret Limited Şirketi, a chocolate and biscuit manufacturer based in Gaziantep, will be determined on April 1, 2026, when creditors gather to vote on the company’s restructuring plan.

The company, which has been operating in the food sector for about 15 years, is currently under a concordat (debt restructuring protection) granted by the Gaziantep 1st Commercial Court of First Instance. The protection period allowed the firm to attempt restructuring its debts and continue operations while negotiating with creditors.

Key Meeting on April 1

Creditors will meet at the company’s factory in the Başpınar Organized Industrial Zone in Gaziantep. During the meeting, they will vote on the payment and restructuring plan proposed by the company.

If the majority of creditors approve the plan, the decision could pave the way for the company to restructure its debts and continue its business activities. However, if creditors reject the proposal, the firm may face bankruptcy proceedings.

Documents Open for Review

Ahead of the vote, creditors have been given the opportunity to review the company’s financial statements and restructuring proposal during the seven days leading up to the meeting. This measure is intended to ensure transparency before the final decision is made.

Those unable to attend the meeting in person will still be able to participate by submitting their written approval or objection within seven days after the meeting.

Workers Await Outcome

The company, known for producing chocolate and biscuit products and maintaining export channels, employs hundreds of workers who are closely watching the process. The vote on April 1 is expected to determine whether the factory continues operating or faces closure.
