Turkiye: The number of electric cars increased by 88.8% in the last 6 months

With Togg’s hitting the roads, the number of electric cars in Turkiye increased by 88.8% in the last 6 months compared to the end of last year and reached 27 thousand 476.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, it was observed that 67.2% of the 434 thousand 818 cars registered to the traffic in Turkiye in the January-June period this year were gasoline-powered and 19.6% diesel fueled, 8.6% were hybrid, 3% electric and 1.6% LPG.

As of the end of June, of the more than 14 million 706 thousand cars registered to the traffic, 36.4% were diesel, 34.3% were LPG, 27.8% gasoline, 1.2% hybrid, and 0,2% of them were electric vehicles.

Compared to the end of last year, an increase was observed in the number of cars in all fuel types in June this year. Considering the increases, electric cars drew attention.

The number of electric cars in the country was recorded as 14 thousand 552 at the end of last year. The number of electric cars increased by 88.8% in June compared to the end of last year and became 27 thousand 476. The use of Turkiye’s car Togg and the increase in charging stations also contributed to the increase in the number of electric cars.

The number of hybrid cars increased by 55.3%

In addition to electric vehicles, the increase in hybrid fuel cars also drew attention. The number of hybrid cars was calculated as 134,662 at the end of last year. This number reached 172 thousand 158 with an increase of 27.8% as of the end of June.

In this period, the increase in the number of gasoline, diesel and LPG cars remained limited. The number of gasoline-powered cars increased by 6.9% to 4 million 82 thousand. The number of diesel cars increased by 1.7% to 5 million 351 thousand, and the number of LPG cars increased by 0.6% to 5 million 38 thousand.
