Turkey’s defense and aerospace industry recorded a 12% increase in exports, reaching $1.91 billion in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting continued momentum in the country’s high-tech manufacturing sector.
According to a statement by the Presidency of Defense Industries, the sector maintained strong growth driven by increased international demand and ongoing national defense initiatives.
March Exports Approach $800 Million
Exports in March alone totaled approximately $803 million, highlighting a significant monthly contribution to the quarterly figure.
Officials noted that the performance demonstrates the expanding global footprint of Turkey’s defense manufacturers, supported by indigenous production capabilities and strategic export policies.
Growth Backed by National Defense Push
The rise in exports is attributed to Turkey’s long-term “National Technology Initiative,” which aims to boost domestic production and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers while increasing competitiveness in global markets.
The sector has seen growing interest from international buyers, particularly in areas such as unmanned systems, land vehicles, and advanced defense technologies.
Outlook Remains Positive
Industry authorities expect the upward trend to continue throughout 2026, with new contracts and partnerships likely to further strengthen export performance.
Turkey has positioned its defense and aerospace industry as a key contributor to economic growth, with exports playing a central role in sustaining the sector’s expansion.
