Turkey’s defense and aerospace industry carried its record-breaking momentum from 2025 into the start of 2026, posting one of the strongest January export performances in its history.
According to figures shared by Haluk Görgün, President of Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), sector exports in January 2026 rose by 44.2% year-on-year to reach $555.3 million.
Strong Start Signals Sustainable Growth
In a statement shared on social media, Görgün said the performance highlights the industry’s capacity for sustainable growth, driven by high-value, advanced-technology products and systems proven in operational environments.
“The results achieved are a concrete reflection of our high value-added, technology-driven product portfolio, our systems that have proven themselves in the field, and our long-term partnerships built on trust,” Görgün said.
Strategic Contribution to National Exports
He emphasized that the defense and aerospace industry remains committed to making a strategic contribution to Turkey’s overall export performance, reinforcing its role as a key pillar of the country’s industrial and technological development.
“This success is the result of planned, consistent, and visionary policies implemented under the leadership and vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, within the framework of the National Technology Initiative and the National Competency Initiative,” Görgün added.
Appreciation for Industry Stakeholders
Görgün also expressed appreciation for all stakeholders contributing to the sector’s global success, including SSB personnel, defense companies, and industry partners.
“I extend my thanks to everyone who has contributed to the global achievements of our defense and aerospace industry, and I wish continued success as we work toward the goal of a stronger Türkiye through high value-added and high-technology products,” he said.
