Turkey’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports increased by 4% and reached $210 million 429 thousand in April

Fresh fruit and vegetable exports reached $210 million 429 thousand in April with an increase of 4% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Ferhat Guruz, Chairman of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that Turkey exported $210 million 429 thousand of fresh fruit and vegetables in April.

Guruz, in his written statement, stated that the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector evaluated 334 thousand 86 tons of products in export markets in April.

Evaluating the export sales of the sector, Guruz gave the following information:

“In April, Turkey’s overall sector exports reached $210 million 429 thousand with an increase of 4% compared to the equivalent period of the previous year. Among the products we exported the most in April, tomato ranked first with a 43% increase and $60 million, lemon second with a 5% increase and $25.6 million, and pepper with an 8% decrease and $25 million. In the same period, we achieved the highest increases in export volume in pomegranate, tea, mandarin and watermelon. We achieved increases of up to 345% in these products.”

Guruz stated that they exported the most to Russia with $46.3 million in April, with Romania in the second place with $27.2 million and Germany in the third place with $18.1 million.

Ferhat Guruz noted that Turkey’s exports of fresh fruits and vegetables in the January-April period reached $972.7 million.
