Industrial output posts monthly, annual rises of 5.4%, 13.8%, respectively, in August

The Industrial production in Turkey improved by 5.4% month-on-month in August and 13.8% annually, the country’s official statistical department said on Tuesday.

On a monthly basis and by sub-sectors, the manufacturing index was the only sub-sector posting an increase 6.3% according to data by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

Meanwhile, the mining and quarrying and electricity-gas-steam-air-conditioning supply indices decreased by 1.7% and 0.2%, respectively, month-on-month in August.

Annually, all sub-sectors saw increases, with the manufacturing by 14.2%, the mining and quarrying and electricity-gas-steam-air-conditioning supply each by 9.4%.

While the annual data refer to calendar-adjusted changes, monthly figures refer to seasonally and calendar-adjusted changes.

The term “calendar-adjusted” is used to refer to data without the calendar and holiday-originated effects.
