Turkey’s manufacturing capacity inches up in November

Local manufacturing industry units operated at 78.1% of capacity in November, according to Central Bank survey

The capacity utilization rate (CUR) of Turkey’s manufacturing industry rose month-on-month in November, official data showed on Wednesday.

Local manufacturing industry units operated at 78.1% of their capacity this month, up 0.1 points from October, according to a Turkish Central Bank survey.

Among the main industrial groups,the highest CUR was 80.1% for intermediate goods, while the lowest was 73.7% for durable consumer goods.

On the sectoral side, the highest capacity usage was in the manufacturing of wood and wood/cork products, excluding furniture, at 86.2% in November, while the lowest was in leather production at 64.1%.

The figures are based on responses to the bank’s business tendency survey from local units operating in the manufacturing industry, the bank said.

The monthly data, which was collected from 1,732 companies in November, does not reflect the bank’s views or predictions, it added.
