“Our pomegranate producer has become conscious”

Hayrettin Ucak, Chairman of the Board of Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, stated that the yield and quality of pomegranate was very good in 2020.

Pointing out that they have reached the highest export figures in the history of Turkey, Ucak said, “Our pomegranate producer has become very conscious in recent years. It has become quality and zero residue production. In this way, our export of pomegranate has increased every year and reached 125% in the last 10 years. Pomegranate strengthens the immune system. In 2020, when the pandemic occurred, there was an increase in demand worldwide. The pandemic also played a driving role in the export record. If climate change does not negatively affect yields, we expect an increase in pomegranate exports in 2021 as well.”
