Turkish air conditioning sector achieved exports totaling 2.3 billion dollars

Mehmet Şanal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Air Conditioning Industry Exporters (İSİB), stated, “The increase in export figures is an indication of the enhanced competitiveness of companies in the international markets.”

Istanbul – Mehmet Şanal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Air Conditioning Industry Exporters (İSİB), emphasized that air conditioning products have gained significant momentum both nationally and internationally in recent years, stating, “We achieved exports of 2.3 billion dollars in the first four months of 2024. Our country’s exports are increasing day by day, and we are becoming more active in international markets.”

Şanal, speaking to AA correspondent, noted that with the onset of rising temperatures and humidity, consumers are preparing for the summer season before temperatures soar, leading to a noticeable surge in air conditioner sales.

Pointing out a significant increase in demand for air conditioning, especially in metropolitan areas and regions with high population densities, Şanal continued:

“Air conditioning products have gained significant momentum both nationally and internationally in recent years. Behind this success lies the strong performance of the sector and the innovation and quality-focused approach of companies. We achieved the growth rates we targeted last year. Especially the increase in export figures has been an indicator of the enhanced competitiveness of companies in international markets. From marketing to sales, communication to implementation, the Turkish air conditioning sector is progressing with efficient results in coordination with all stakeholders.

We will continue to offer innovative and sustainable solutions, setting our goals high for 2024. We will continue our efforts for the sector to grow further in the future and to achieve a stronger position in the international arena. As of April 2024, our exports of air conditioning systems and components amounted to 266 million dollars. The top five countries to which we exported air conditioning systems and components during the same period were France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany, respectively.”

“We have set our export target at 7.8 billion dollars” Şanal expressed their satisfaction with the interest they received both in the domestic and foreign markets, stating that they achieved exports of 781.1 million dollars in the air conditioning systems and components product group in 2023.

Şanal stated that they have set their export target for 2024 as 7.8 billion dollars as a sector, saying, “As the Turkish air conditioning sector, we aim to have a 1.5% share of world exports. We are working with all our might towards this goal. We achieved exports of 2.3 billion dollars in the first four months of 2024. Our country’s exports are increasing day by day, and we are becoming more active in international markets.”

Şanal emphasized that it might be more advantageous in terms of prices to purchase air conditioners during seasonal transitions, stating that although it varies by region depending on the climate, certain periods are quieter for the sector, and during these times, many sellers and manufacturers offer special discounts and organize campaigns to attract buyers.

Şanal stated, “Especially during the spring and autumn seasons, service demands are lower, so installation and maintenance services are carried out more quickly and smoothly. Of course, air conditioners can be purchased at any time if needed, but seasonal transitions may offer more attractive prices. Especially if consumers need air conditioning during the summer, they can benefit from price advantages by acting early in the spring and avoid crowds.”

Olcay Avcı, Deputy General Manager of Daikin Turkey, also drew attention to the experts’ indications that 2024 summer is expected to be as hot as the summer of 2023.

Avcı stated that the air conditioning sector continues its intense preparations for the summer, saying, “Companies importing products from abroad plan their imports between January and May. Companies producing domestically also plan their production to meet the potential high demand in the summer. Sales are currently taking place in parallel with last year’s sales. We expect a 10% increase in air conditioner sales this summer.”
