Stagnation continues in Turkiye’s second-hand vehicle market

While the stagnation in the second-hand vehicle market continues, the intensity in the second-hand vehicle market opened on Sundays in Gaziantep attracted attention. Buyers and sellers say that density is deceiving and say: “There are many lookers but few buyers.”

Second-hand vehicle prices, which showed a downward trend towards the end of last year due to the regulations introduced to second-hand vehicle prices, started to rise again with the new year. The density in the second-hand vehicle market opened on Sundays in Gaziantep attracted attention. Buyers and sellers said that density is deceiving and said, “There are many lookers but few buyers.”

“THERE ARE MANY LOOKERS, BUT THERE ARE NO BUYERS”

A citizen named Ahmet Yasar, who said that he came to the second-hand car market near the bus terminal in Gaziantep to buy a vehicle, said: “The market is a bit stagnant. There are many lookers, many customers, but there are no buyers. Prices are high. Sellers cannot sell, buyers cannot buy.”

“80% ARE NOT BUYERS”

A citizen named Muhammet Deniz stated that he is a seller and that 80% of the crowd coming to the market is just wandering around to look, and said, “I am also a seller. The market is quite stagnant. There is a dense crowd in the second-hand car market, but 80% of this crowd are not buyers. Citizens come to look at the vehicles and the market. The number of buyers is very small.”

“THE SECOND-HAND MARKET IS TOO EXPENSIVE”

Claiming that second-hand car prices have started to rise again, a citizen named Tevfik Yuksek said, “The market is very expensive right now, so there is no decrease in prices. In fact, there is an even worse increase. They want ₺440 thousand for a vehicle with 320 thousand kilometers. In this case, how can we buy a vehicle?”
