THY Receives Prestigious Award at TIM Ceremony Attended by President Erdogan
Turkish Airlines (THY) has been awarded the “Export Champion Award” for 2023, recognizing its impressive $16.3 billion in service exports. The announcement was made during the 31st Annual General Assembly and Export Champions Award Ceremony of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), held at the Haliç Congress Center with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
THY’s Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, accepted the award from President Erdogan, highlighting the airline’s significant contribution to Turkiye’s export sector.
In a statement, Bolat expressed optimism about Turkiye’s potential, emphasizing the importance of targeting high-spending tourist segments. “We see the results of our efforts. By focusing on tourists who can spend around $3,000, we can significantly increase our export surplus,” Bolat said.
Bolat outlined THY’s strategic initiatives, mentioning a special program targeting 11 countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia, and Malaysia. “Our goal is to attract 10 million tourists from these countries, generating $30 billion in revenue for Turkiye. We are working closely with the Ministry of Tourism, the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), and other stakeholders in service exports. The positive results of our efforts fuel our determination and enthusiasm for new achievements,” he added.
