Turkish Arab Economy Summit Aims to Boost Investments Beyond Real Estate

Sabuhi Attar, Chairman of the Turkish and Arab Countries Cooperation Association (TURAP), stated that they are trying to attract Arab business people, who generally prefer to invest in real estate in Turkey, to the agricultural and industrial sectors.

Attar, speaking to AA correspondent, stated that in order to increase economic cooperation between Arab countries and Turkiye, they will organize the Turkish-Arab Economy Summit along with the 10th Turkish-Arab Food and Food Technologies Fair and the 8th Turkish-Arab Agriculture and Agriculture Technologies Fair simultaneously in Istanbul on 5-6 June in cooperation with the association and Turabexpo Fair Organization.

Stating that they will host nearly a thousand business people from Arab countries within the scope of summits and fairs, Attar noted that they believe that the events will stimulate bilateral cooperation and joint investments.

Stating that Turkiye’s exports to the Arab geography continue to increase, Attar said, “We have reached good figures. The importance of the Spice Road has increased. Our President also held meetings on this issue last month. Hopefully, we are also working on this project. We bring together both our Turkish and Arab companies and discuss investments and projects.”

Stating that food products and technologies are very important for Arab countries and that they are making an industrialization effort in this regard, Attar said, “The food technology meeting is very important because the machines they need are produced in Turkiye. We see and support the industrialization and development of Arab countries as a move. Trade is possible in this sense from Turkiye, we have received important signals regarding this.”

Sabuhi Attar stated that in the past, Arab business people preferred to invest in real estate in Turkiye and added that their aim was to direct these investments to industry and agriculture.
