Payments Made with Credit, Debit, and Prepaid Cards Increased by 98% Year-on-Year
Card payments in June reached ₺1.27 trillion. The total payment amount made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in June increased by 98% compared to the same period last year. The Interbank Card Center (BKM) published the card payment data for June.
According to the data, as of June, the number of credit cards in Turkiye rose to 124.1 million, debit cards to 191.8 million, and prepaid cards to 96 million. The annual increase in the number of cards was 15% for credit cards, 7% for debit cards, and 20% for prepaid cards. The total number of cards reached 411.9 million, marking a 12% increase compared to the same period last year.
The total payment amount made with credit, debit, and prepaid cards in June reached ₺1.27 trillion, increasing by 98% compared to the same month last year. Payments made with credit cards amounted to ₺1.057 trillion, debit cards to ₺186.2 billion, and prepaid cards to ₺24.6 billion. The increase rates were 105% for credit cards, 65% for debit cards, and 132% for prepaid cards.
