Turkish Central Bank to Announce Interest Rate Decision Tomorrow

Economists Anticipate No Change, Expecting Rate to Hold Steady at 50%

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) will reveal its interest rate decision tomorrow, following the meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) chaired by Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan. The announcement is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 27. In the previous meeting, the policy rate was maintained at 50%.

Expectations of Stability in Policy Rate

Economists predict that the policy rate will remain unchanged at 50%, with the median expectation among surveyed economists indicating no alteration. All surveyed economists foresee the rate staying at 50%.

Looking towards the end of the year, the median expectation for the policy rate also stands at 50%. Among those who shared their year-end predictions, three economists expect the rate to remain at 50%, one anticipates a decrease to 47.5%, another to 45%, one to 44%, and two project a reduction to 40%.

Market Participants Survey

According to the CBRT’s market participants survey, the expectation for the current month and the next three months is a steady 50% rate. The 12-month forward expectation for the policy rate has slightly decreased from 37.11% to 35.90%.
