The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye’s (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee, chaired by Governor Fatih Karahan, will gather once again in the last days of July to determine the interest rate decision.
When Will the Central Bank Announce the Interest Rate Decision?
The MPC meets according to a pre-announced schedule. Following the meeting, the MPC decision, along with a brief rationale, will be announced on the Central Bank’s website. The Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee will convene on Thursday, July 25th to decide on the sixth interest rate decision of the year, with the decision being made public at 14:00.
Previous Decision in June
In its last meeting held in June, the Central Bank kept the policy rate unchanged at 50%, in line with expectations. The CBRT had announced an end-of-year inflation target of 38%, while market expectations hover between 40-45%.
The Turkish Economic Policy Research Foundation (TEPAV) indicated that conditions might be favorable for an interest rate cut starting from September.
