Türkiye’s Competition Authority has carried out an on-site inspection at the Türkiye office of Temu, the Chinese e-commerce platform owned by PDD Holdings, according to statements from both the company and the regulator.
Temu Türkiye said that computers at its local office were seized during the inspection. A Temu spokesperson told Reuters that the company would “act in full cooperation with Turkish authorities.”
However, the Competition Authority offered a different account, stating that while an inspection is currently under way, the action does not mean a formal investigation has been launched. The authority also said that computers were not seized, contradicting Temu’s statement.
In a written response to Reuters, the Competition Authority said:
“Detailed information cannot be shared at this stage in order to ensure the healthy progress of the ongoing inspection, which has also been reflected in the media, and to protect the rights of the parties involved. Developments regarding the inspection will be shared with the public at later stages of the process.”
No official explanation has yet been provided regarding the grounds or potential outcomes of the inspection.
