Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that Turkish contractors have completed and undertaken projects worth approximately $2 billion in North Macedonia, underscoring the growing economic partnership between the two countries. He highlighted the significant role Turkish construction firms have played in the country’s infrastructure development and modernization efforts.
Speaking during meetings with government officials and business leaders in Skopje, Bolat said Turkish contractors have been involved in dozens of projects across North Macedonia, including transportation, infrastructure, and urban development initiatives. He noted that Turkish companies are well positioned to participate in additional projects planned under regional development and investment programs.
According to the minister, more than 2,000 Turkish entrepreneurs have invested in North Macedonia, with total Turkish investments exceeding $2 billion. He described the country as an important economic hub for Turkish businesses in the Balkans and emphasized the strong historical and commercial ties between the two nations.
Bolat also stressed that Turkish contractors, which have completed thousands of projects worldwide, possess the expertise and technical capabilities needed to contribute to North Macedonia’s future infrastructure and development agenda. He added that cooperation could expand further in areas such as transportation, energy, urban infrastructure, and industrial development.
Trade relations between Türkiye and North Macedonia have continued to strengthen in recent years. Bilateral trade volume has approached the $1 billion mark, and both governments have expressed interest in expanding economic cooperation and updating existing trade arrangements to support further growth.
The minister said the growing presence of Turkish contractors and investors demonstrates the depth of the economic relationship between the two countries and is expected to contribute to North Macedonia’s long-term development while creating new opportunities for Turkish businesses in the region.
