Turkish Defense Firm ARCA Acquires Italian Ammunition Manufacturer Esplodenti Sabino

Turkish defense industry leader ARCA Savunma has announced the acquisition of Italian military ammunition producer Esplodenti Sabino, marking a significant international expansion for the company.

Founded by former Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) ordnance captain İsmail Terlemez in Sungurlu, Çorum, ARCA has become one of Turkey’s prominent defense manufacturers. The acquisition process was personally overseen by Chairman Terlemez, though financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Ankara, ARCA Savunma also operates an international office in Milan, Italy. The company specializes in producing a wide range of military munitions in Turkey, including various caliber artillery, mortar and firearm ammunition, rockets with a range of 20–40 kilometers, and plastic explosives. Details regarding upcoming changes to the Casalbordino-based Esplodenti facility remain undisclosed.

Esplodenti Sabino is one of the few companies in Europe specializing in ammunition, missile, and explosives disposal, and has led key projects for NATO countries and the Italian Ministry of Defense over the years.

Meanwhile, ARCA has made a name for itself at its Çorum facility by producing more artillery shells than any manufacturer in the Americas, solidifying its position as a global player in the defense sector.

This strategic acquisition not only enhances ARCA’s production capabilities but also broadens its footprint in Europe, aligning with its goal to become a leading name in global defense manufacturing and technology.
