Mehmet Şimşek, Türkiye’s Treasury and Finance Minister, said that the recent improvement in inflation expectations demonstrates that the government’s economic policies are beginning to produce results.
In a statement evaluating the latest inflation expectation data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB), Şimşek noted that inflation expectations among households, businesses, and market participants have continued to decline.
According to the minister, 12-month ahead inflation expectations fell significantly compared with the same period last year. Household expectations declined by 18.6 percentage points, while expectations in the real sector dropped by 14.3 points. Market participants’ inflation expectations also improved, reaching 22.3%.
Şimşek said the improvement in expectations reflects the effectiveness of the government’s disinflation program, which combines tight monetary policy, fiscal discipline, and structural reforms.
“The improvement in expectations shows the impact of our policies,” Şimşek said, adding that the government remains committed to maintaining price stability and continuing its economic program with determination.
He also emphasized that improving inflation expectations are supporting the broader disinflation process and helping strengthen confidence in the Turkish economy.
