ANKARA, June 15, 2026 — Turkey’s Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, said the country’s industrial sector continued to demonstrate resilience despite growing uncertainty in the global economy and challenging external conditions.
In a statement on social media following the release of April industrial production data, Şimşek noted that calendar-adjusted industrial production increased 6% year-on-year in April. He added that industrial output for the January–April period recorded a cumulative annual increase of 1.3%.
The minister emphasized the strength of investment-related production, stating that capital goods output rose 8.2% year-on-year during the period. He also highlighted significant gains in technology-intensive industries, with medium-high technology production increasing 7.1% and high-technology production expanding 14.6%.
Şimşek said the figures reflected the government’s efforts to promote higher-value-added production and investment. He reiterated Turkey’s ambition to strengthen its position in global manufacturing through policies aimed at boosting productivity, technological advancement, and industrial competitiveness.
“With our policies encouraging high value-added investment and production, we will continue our efforts to make Turkey a global manufacturing hub,” Şimşek said.
The latest data suggest that Turkey’s industrial sector has maintained momentum despite weaker external demand and heightened uncertainty in international markets. Analysts view the strong performance in capital goods and high-technology production as a positive signal for the country’s long-term growth prospects and industrial transformation agenda.
