Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, told AA correspondent that honey was sold to 40 countries, autonomous regions, and free zones from Turkey in 4 months.
Kalyoncu stated that $11,477,245 income was obtained from the export of 3,007 tons of honey during this period, saying, “The top 3 countries with the highest external sales were the USA, Germany, and Spain. During this period, $3,963,636 worth of honey was exported to the USA, $3,126,576 to Germany, and $608,580 to Spain.”
Drawing attention to the diversity of countries in honey exports, Kalyoncu reported that this period also saw honey sales to Slovenia, the Philippines, the Czech Republic, France, Albania, Nepal, Switzerland, and Morocco, unlike the same period of the previous year.
Kalyoncu emphasized their aim to increase honey exports, noting that European Union countries and Japan were designated as target markets in this context.
