Turkish Investment Office Launches China Outreach Drive to Attract New Investment

BEIJING, China — June 22, 2026

A delegation led by Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, President of Türkiye’s Presidential Investment and Finance Office, held a series of meetings in Beijing as part of the institution’s 20th-anniversary activities, aiming to strengthen economic ties and attract greater Chinese investment to Türkiye.

The delegation met with representatives of Chinese companies from various industries during an event organized jointly with the Silk Road Fund, a state-backed investment vehicle that supports projects in countries participating in China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Speaking at the event, Dağlıoğlu said Türkiye’s economic transformation has been driven by reforms launched under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan since 2003, with the Investment Office established in 2006 as part of that broader modernization effort. He noted that the organization is celebrating its 20th year in 2026.

Focus on Tourism, Trade and Investment

Dağlıoğlu highlighted Türkiye’s decision earlier this year to exempt Chinese citizens from visa requirements for visits of up to 90 days. According to him, the policy contributed to a 37% year-on-year increase in Chinese visitors during the first months of 2026. He expressed confidence that rising people-to-people exchanges would create new opportunities for business cooperation and mutual understanding.

The investment chief also emphasized growing financial cooperation between the two countries. He noted that both governments support expanding trade in local currencies and pointed to an agreement between the central banks that authorizes the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) to conduct currency-swap operations in Türkiye, a move expected to facilitate deeper economic relations.

Türkiye Promotes Itself as a Regional Hub

Addressing Chinese investors, Dağlıoğlu described Türkiye as a strategic base for multinational companies seeking access to Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. He said the country has become a regional center for manufacturing, research and development, and management operations over the past two decades.

He also outlined new incentives designed to attract international businesses. Among the measures announced is a plan to provide a 100% corporate tax exemption on cross-border commercial activities for global trading companies headquartered in Türkiye, particularly in Istanbul. Additional incentives are being prepared to encourage multinational corporations to establish regional management centers in the country.

Reception for Chinese Investors

As part of the visit, the Presidential Investment and Finance Office scheduled a reception at the Turkish Embassy in Beijing, bringing together representatives of Chinese investment institutions and companies. The event is intended to promote Türkiye’s investment opportunities and deepen engagement with potential Chinese investors.

The Beijing meetings form part of Türkiye’s broader effort to position itself as a key regional and global investment destination while strengthening commercial and financial cooperation with China.
