Turkish stocks down 1.18% at Monday’s close

BIST 100 sheds over 28 points, ends day with market value of nearly $125B

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index went down 1.18% to close at 2,390.79 points on Monday.

After starting the day at 2,419.93, the BIST 100 index lost 28.44 points from last week’s close of 2,419.23 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 2,390.79 points, while its highest was 2,424.54.

Ending the day with a market value of around 2 trillion Turkish liras (nearly $125 billion), the index had a daily trading volume of 34.3 billion liras ($2.2 billion).

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, conglomerate Sabanci Holding, and private lender Garanti BBVA.

Conglomerate Global Yatirim Holding was the best performer of the day, with its shares up 6.80%, while the pharma company Gen Ilac saw the biggest drop, 9.73%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,790.00 by market close, down from $1,832.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil increased to $112.7 per barrel as of 7 p.m.local time (1600GMT), up 1.08% from the previous close.
