Turkish stocks down at Monday’s open

Benchmark index drops over 16.8 points in opening session

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Monday at 5,119.58 points, down 0.33%, or 16.86 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed the last week at 5,136.44 points, decreasing 1.78%, with a daily trading volume of 68.4 billion liras ($3.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 19.0120, as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.2630, while a British pound traded for 23.1490 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $70.78 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,995.15.
